2016 Adam Scott Junior Classic

The 6th Adam Scott Junior Classic took place at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 December 2016 with players ranging in age from 7 years to 17 years with both national and international participants.

Day one saw players tee off on The Palms Golf Course. Some found the wind challenging but there were some good results none the less.

Hamish Way (72) held a narrow lead in the Boys section and Nicha Kanpai (71) lead the Girls section heading in to day two on The Pines Golf Course.

An early morning thunderstorm on day two didn’t disrupt play, but made The Pines Golf Course a little softer and scoring a little easier.

The Boys A Grade section was a very close affair with Lewis Hoath and Hamish Way finishing tied with a total of 146 (4 over) for the 36 holes.  Both players met on the 10th hole for a sudden death playoff.  Lewis played two superb shots and holed a 25 foot putt to be crowned the Adam Scott Junior Classic winner for 2016.

The girls A Grade section was also a very close event and Nicha Kanpai proved a touch too good with a score of 144 (2 over).  Nicha was a 3 shot winner from Alice Kweon and Lisa Edgar.

This year’s Boys B Grade section was hotly contested but Dylan Buttigeig proved too good over the two days with a one shot win from Ethan Carlson.

In this year’s Girls B Grade section Sarah Hammett played some great golf to be a 5 shot winner from Poppy Harrington and Brianna Edgar.
