Talmage began work at SCGCC as a 3rd year Trainee Professional and now is a fully qualified PGA Member of Australia. Talmage now works casually while playing professional golf tournaments throughout Australia.
How did you first get involved in golf?
I played golf with my uncle in Sydney when I was 14
What’s your first memory of playing golf?
Making a birdie in my 3rd round of golf. I was so excited
What inspired you to apply to work at SCGCC?
I was Junior Member here and won the Junior Championships in 2011. All I remember was how friendly all the Members were.
Who is the most influential person you have met in the industry?
Tiger Woods. He inspired me from such a young age and I got to meet him at the 2009 Australian Masters.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I am South African.
How would someone describe you in three words?
Outgoing, funny, friendly.
What do you do when you aren’t working at SCGCC?
Spending time with friends and family and enjoying this beautiful country we live in.
What are your hobbies other than golf?
Fishing or anything outdoors.
What’s your number one golf tip?
Appreciate the good and don’t dwell on the bad. In the end it’s just a game.
What is your favourite international course?
I haven’t played any amazing international courses as of yet.
What’s the most exotic place you have travelled to?
The islands of Indonesia, great spots for surfing.
Which sports teams do you follow?
Sydney Swans, Balmain Tigers and Springboks.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Do you play a musical instrument?
No I would be hopeless.
What’s the strangest talent you have?
I am an extremely good arm wrestler.

Golf and enjoying life.
What’s one professional or personal skill you wish you had that you don’t (yet)?
What is the one thing in this world you are most proud of?
Having chosen a great career path and having a healthy family.
