“Doff your Cap and Thank a Golf Course Superintendent”
The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America has launched a television and radio commercial campaign to highlight the importance of golf course superintendents.
Assisting in the campaign, among the world’s best professional golfers including Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Michelle Wie and Jack Nicklaus, is legendary greenkeeper and four-time Open champion Tom Morris, played by David Joy of Scotland. Morris is considered “the father of modern greenkeeping,” having looked after St Andrews for over 40 years until his passing in 1908.
Old Tom Morris has one simple message: “If you love golf like I do, then thank a golf course superintendent.”
With two exceptional golf courses ranked in the Top 50 in Australia, we wish to pass this message on to our Members, and ask you, too, to doff your cap and thank your golf course superintendent.
For the full article and to view Old Tom Morris in this promotional campaign, please click here.
Directional Signage and Roped Areas
Both The Pines and The Palms golf courses display directional signage and roped areas, which are in place to minimise damage to worn areas.
To assist in maintaining and improving both of our beautiful golf courses, we kindly request that all cart signs are obeyed and golf carts remain on paths around all tees and greens.
The next event on the Social Sunday calendar is the Florida Ambrose competition held Sunday 2 April 2017.
A four-player team event, each player plays the whole round as a Stableford event. Team scoring is based on using the best three (3) scores of the team. The total score for each hole is the 2 best scores added together and multiplied by the 3rd best score. So, if the 3rd best score is 0 the team score for the hole is 0.
For those players whose partners do not play golf, a register is now available in the Golf Shop for any Member seeking a partner for mixed events.
Following golf, enjoy Sunday Casual Dining in Lakeview Bar, as well as the Weekly Members’ Draw.

Featured Wine April – The Busselton Boys
The Busselton Boys wines are made by award-winning winemaker Paul Boulden, who upholds the contemporary winemaking style of the Bussell brothers, Alfie, Charlie and Jack. In 1830, the three brothers found a favourable site along the Margaret River to establish a farm, which had good soil and mild conditions.
Busselton Boys Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Always on the lookout for new horizons, Charlie was fresh, vibrant and a little racy. This Semillon Sauvignon Blanc stands out from the crowd, with a daring combination of fresh cut grass and passionfruit with a crisp, dry finish.
Bottle $29 Glass $7
Busselton Boys Chardonnay
As a smooth fellow with an unmistakable charm, Jack’s personality is perfectly captured in this Chardonnay; elegant and peachy, with a little zesty finish.
Bottle $29 Glass $7
Busselton Boys Cabernet Merlot
This Cabernet Merlot boasts flavours of blackcurrant whilst the Merlot contributes plummy soft notes. As Alfie was suave, smooth and adventurous, this wine is typical of the Margaret River’s famous blend: complex, velvety, rich and rewarding.
